Fun With GF/LG Food! is an ebook cookbook by Debbie Johnson, former owner and executive chef of The Golden Chalice Restaurant & Gallery, a 100% gluten-free, sugar-free, low-glycemic, organic, allergy-friendly establishment. Some people were in tears of joy at The Golden Chalice. They’d look up at the servers and say things like, “You mean I can eat anything on this menu, anything?”The server would smile and say, “Yes, you can eat anything you like.”Never did we expect the type of emotional reactions we got from our food-sensitive guests. It really showed us the tremendous need that exists for these folks. There’s so much food and yet so little that this group can eat, how sad.And when they left our establishment, “I feel so satisfied, but not stuffed! I have energy, unlike how I feel at a normal restaurant.” * Do you have or know anyone who has celiac disease (gluten-intolerance) or is diabetic, or, as in many unfortunate cases, both? * Do you know anyone who has allergies or illness of any kind? * What about all three?Every single recipe in this book covers all three issues at the same time and are still incredibly yummy, satisfying, and fulfilling. None of the recipes use corn, soy – except for one special, safe, non-GMO, very easy-to-digest liquid form – or even rice (high-glycemic), or flour of any kind. Delicious dairy-free alternatives are also given. Very few allergens are used, and alternatives given for most known allergens, including certain recipes that give alternatives to tree nuts. Grab A Copy Click here The recipes in this ebook have been helpful for people with everything from celiac disease and diabetes to IBS (irritable bowel syndrome). Also, every recipe in this book contains “healing” food of some type. This is according to the many books written by doctors who are experts in the field of nutrition. Our entire restaurant was geared to people with food and environmental sensitivities of all kinds, yet we didn’t advertise the fact on our signage. So locals came in and thought we were just a fine gourmet restaurant. Who wouldn’t? our menu offered only the freshest, organic, foods that were rich, flavorful, and delicious. Desserts were always a must at The Golden Chalice, they were just hard to resist.Debbie Johnson, best-selling author of Think Yourself Thin also wrote a “Natural Recipe” Column for The Edge Magazine. She shares ALL of her gluten-free, diabetic-friendly recipes with you. They were developed over several decades of dedicated work to insure flavor, originality and best of all, simplicity!Grab A Copy Click herePlus, Debbie has developed recipes especially for this book. You will be the first to see them and try them to your delight, as well as your family’s and guest’s.

My dog had the antibiotic shot called Convenia today, can I still give her probiotics with this?

Question by : My dog had the antibiotic shot called Convenia today, can I still give her probiotics with this?
I always give my dog probiotics when she is on antibiotics. I wait 4-5 hours after her antibiotics to give her probiotics. Convenia is a one time shot that stays in their blood for 2 weeks, I wanted to know if it would still be alright to give her probiotics or would it have a bad effect on the Convenia?

No, it should be fine. I like iFlora brand from the health food store, or will give kefir to drink (more species of beneficial bacteria/yeasts than yoghurt).

Q&A: Can the one a day vitamins or probiotics cause overweight in already well fed kids, 7 and 9?

Question by Taken: Can the one a day vitamins or probiotics cause overweight in already well fed kids, 7 and 9?
My friend gives her children 7 and 9 vitamin supplements( all vitamins) and probiotics for the past 2 years. She feeds them healthy and well, but they are overweight. I was just wondering if by doing that (giving them extra supplements since they are well fed)it can cause them to be overweight. Thank you.

Best answer:

Answer by Sue
Unless she’s using supplements with a lot of sugar in them, the answer is definitely no. You get overweight by eating more than you need to for your level of exercise & metabolism. Extra vitamins won’t add to that. In fact, if you take vitamin supplements that you don’t need because your diet is really well-balanced, you will just pee out the extra vitamins. And probiotics are not absorbed into the body. They work right in the gut (and they can be very effective!)

If you go to your local bookstore and go to the aisle for health and fitness, you’ll find an overwhelming amount of books related to dieting. So, which one of these systems is the best? Which one is going to take the weight off? Well, any diet is going to work, as long as you take in fewer calories everyday than you burn. Sounds pretty simple, doesn’t it? If it were as easy as that, you’d think that anyone who wanted to lose weight would be able to do it. Logically this makes a lot of sense and will work 100% of the time, but to make it all work, you’ll have to deal with your cravings, emotions, poor digestion, an increasing appetite and a slow metabolism. Most importantly, the goal is take the weight off and keep it off.

There is no miracle weight loss system. You need to have a plan in place and be ready to do some work. While Chinese herbs and acupuncture are great tools to help you reach your goal, the use of them alone will not make you lose the weight you want to get rid of. They will make it easier for you to make the changes you need to make, curb cravings, calm emotions, improve your digestion, decrease your appetite and increase your metabolism.

The biggest key to losing weight lies in the foods you eat. Diets that deprive you of normal foods and leave you not feeling satiated will make you lose weight, but the problem is, they usually don’t last. Eventual these diets fail and you’ll find yourself gorging on all the foods you were told you weren’t allowed to eat, which usually leads to a weight gain. This is what’s referred to as yo-yo dieting which can lower your metabolism and also lead to adrenal fatigue. It’s easy to become frustrated with diets that leave you feeling deprived and lethargic. Eating a balance diet with lots of vegetables and limiting the amount of simple carbohydrates is a great start. Acupuncture is an excellent adjunct to your weight loss program by giving your metabolism a boost, maximizing the efficiency of your digestion, reducing cravings and calming “diet anxiety”.

There are many different reasons, according to Chinese Medicine, why a person may be prone to weight gain or to find it difficult to lose weight. One of those reasons is because of a deficiency of Spleen Qi, causing the body to not properly break down nutrients and effectively deliver them throughout the body. This lack of energy can leave a person feeling lethargic, with a slow metabolism. Another reason is due to a decline in the fire of the kidneys, often due to excessive stress, excessive work or a natural decline that often occurs as we age. Acupuncture affects the release of hormones in your body. Balanced hormones will help you mentally and physically along your journey to good health.

If you’re going to be putting forth the effort to eat the right foods, you’ll definitely want to make sure your body gets the most out of them. Using acupuncture and Chinese herbs can dramatically improve your digestion, so your body can absorb as many nutrients as possible. If you’re tired of taking medications and your digestion is sluggish, you suffer from IBS, bloating, GERD or any other digestive condition, contact your local acupuncturist and see if you’re a good candidate for acupuncture. There are many conditions acupuncture treats. Resolving some conditions can potentially help you to start taking off some of those unwanted pounds permanently and living the life you want.
